The special feature of this building is the tower high 95 meters, built by Arnolfo di Cambio. It is open to public visits, as well as the rest of the Old Palace. A beautiful characteristic of this square is the presence of the statues on display outdoors, especially in the Loggia dei Lanzi: here you will find some of the original statues by Donatello, Cellini and Bandinelli. You will see the famous David by Michelangelo, but it is a copy because the original is located in the Gallery of Fine Arts. The statues of Piazza della Signoria are not only a decorative ensemble of the highest level, but they also represent a true secular allegorical cycle, unique in its kind, which was to inspire the rulers of the city on their way to the Palazzo Vecchio.
